Welcome to our first blog post. This is the written companion to a podcast created for paramedics, first responders, and anyone who has ever eaten dinner over a sink at 3 am.
This is by no means a polished medical lecture delivered by someone whose uniform has never encountered blood, vomit, or gas station nachos. Fuck! It's an honest, adult, occasionally inappropriate look at the life in emergency medicine.
We're going to talk about the calls that taught us something, the partners who kept us sane, and the patients who confidently diagnosed themselves using information supplied by Facebook, their cousin, and a suspicious rash.
You can expect conversations about:
The strange realities of working on an ambulance.
Gallo's humor and why first responders use it.
Mental health burnouts and surviving shift work.
Clinical mistakes and lessons learned the hard way.
Partners, dispatchers, nurses, and the glorious dysfunction of emergency services.
The eternal mystery of why every emergency happens 5 minutes before your shift ends
Some stories will be funny, some will be uncomfortable, and others are just going to make you stare silently into the distance while reconsidering your career choices.
It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned paramedic, a brand-new student who is still excited to take a manual blood pressure, or simply curious about what happens after someone calls 911. You're welcome here.
Grab a coffee strong enough that someone questions your sanity. Check that the truck is actually plugged in and join us on this wild ride.
Welcome to the podcast. Let's make poor coping mechanisms educational.
